Has anyone seen this?  Thoughts, comments, reflections?

I went to see it... twice.... opening weekend.  I took my youngest son (he's 13) and two students from the team I coach (high school kids).  When the credits started, my son wanted to know when he could see it again, and let me know he wanted his own copy when it hit dvd.  Both of the students really liked it and one wondered why he hadn't heard about it before I invited him... made the statement that more movies like that needed to get made! :-)

For those that don't know, it's based on the book Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman.  I read the book quite a few years ago, so my memory of the book is admittedly somewhat sketchy.  That being said, I really enjoyed the film, and thought it was a very good adaptation from what I remembered of the novel.  I do intend to buy it on dvd (plus one for my son, of course) when it comes out.

So... let's hear from anyone else that's seen it!

I enjoyed this movie and I agree that there's so much more that could be done with this kind of material in films.

I thought there were places in this film where Socrates' "instruction" sessions got rather tedious and long winded, or repetitive. But overall I really liked it; it has something positive to offer anyone interested in a better way of being in the world or how to find real happiness, but for the most part avoids getting too cerebral. It also manages to have some sex appeal without getting gratuitous.

The characters and story have stayed with me, which is more than I can say for many a Hollywood blockbuster.

I recently rented this movie and thought it was terrific! I hadn't heard of Dan Milman until seeing this but now his many books are on my list of things to read.

I loved the movie. But I highly recommend the book. I read the book along with "The Power of Now" by eckhart tolle and the two books changed my life. The follow up books for "Ways of the peaceful warrior" are also fantastic.

I both read the book and saw it.  While the movie was great, it wasn't smart to watch it right after reading the book.  The book was so much more indebth, and by watching the movie right after, it felt like it lacked substance.

Going the other way around though: If you've seen the movie, you'll love reading the book!  Check it out!

"Each day we are born again. What we do today is what matters most", Buddha .

I like Millman's books as well. I especially like the quote in the movie were Socrates tells him to "take out the trash". This is to say that presence is all there ever is and thought coupled with ego creates illusion and fear.

Have a wonderful moment this day....

What’s Your “Body Burden”? Take the Toxins Test

There’s a new phrase in town — “body burden” — and no, it doesn’t refer to the weight you gained over the holidays, nor that husband who doesn’t help around the house. Unfortunately, body burden is no laughing matter. It refers to the level of chemical contaminants that are in our bodies. Scary stuff like mercury, [...]

4 Fitness-Ball Moves to Tone Hips, Buns & Thighs

I love to use a stability ball with my personal training clients and in my strength training classes. Stability balls, also called fitness balls, BalanceBalls or Swiss balls, add that extra balance challenge, involving your core muscles in every move. Prince Albert Embarks on Eco-Expedition

For most of his life, Prince Albert II has been dubbed a playboy. Now, it looks like he’ll be known as an eco-crusader. The 50-year-old ruler of Monaco, whose parents were Prince Rainier III and the ever elegant Grace Kelly, kicked off a month-long expedition on Monday to view the impact that global warming has had on the [...]

Take a Vacation (Just Not From Recycling)

The French motto is “C’est la vie.” But when the glass jars, aluminum cans and plastic bottles started adding up during our holiday vacation in Paris last week, my conscience said otherwise. I admit, a few baby food jars did end up in the trash before my husband and I wised up. At home, with all [...]

Smudge Out the Old for the New

Lighting dried white sage, blowing out the flames and then fanning the embers to smoke as much as possible to pervade a room is an age-old way to change the energy and vibration of a place. Called smudging, smudging is traditionally used to purify an area of negativity and to induce a feeling of serenity. [...]

Diddy Gives Safe Rides to New Yorkers on New Year’s Eve

I’ve lived in New York my entire life yet I’ve never been in Times Square when the ball dropped. I’ve walked by the tourist zone shortly after the clock stuck 12 — wading through piles of confetti and trash — and partied a few blocks away, but I’ve always avoided the eye of the storm [...]

God is in the Eco Details

I have been accused of putting the mental in environmental. I truly believe the most successful spaces always get the details right: proper use of varied lighting, complexity of texture, subtle art, and the many other nuances that transform a space to make it exceptional. Taking it one step further (hence the mental reference), [...]
